About KelseyBeths

When I was little I always knew when I was in trouble: I would hear a long, drawn out "Kelsey-Beth" from my grandmother or parents as I ran about doing something naughty. My love of working and creating with my hands started when I was very young. My mother always handmade my special occasion dresses. I would watch her embroider, smock, or do shadow-work. I was always excited to see what the finished product would be and prance around the house in all my glory. I always felt so special, knowing that with every stitch my mother had put a little extra love into each piece of clothing. I took sewing lessons but always got frustrated with sewing on a piece of paper while my mother seemed to pull beautiful dresses out of thin air. I gravitated towards knitting as I grew. I loved feeling the yarn slide through my fingers, the fabric seemed to appear like magic in my hands. Soon I tackled huge projects, determined to learn on-the-fly. As I went to college I lost sight of my creative side. I buried myself in books and studies, research and reports. Life took over and I left little time for myself. After I married my wonderful husband I began to make time for myself once again. I picked up my knitting once more and turned out scarf after scarf, getting back into the grove and meditative motions of the craft. I soon branched out into crochet, needle felting, and finally settled on that allusive magic that was sewing. I went back to the source, watching my mother whip up new things right before my eyes. I focused on the adorable: little things that made me smile as I created them...BABY SHOES. Join me as I pass along the love I always felt from my mother's creations. Now, I send that love to you and yours through my own. View all posts by KelseyBeths
